Basics of Web Usability
- Keep an eye on your web pages and watch for bad links. Often you may find that pages you are linking to have been moved or deleted and as a result the links on your pages may break. It is important to keep an eye out for these bad links so you can update them quickly so users of your pages can find the information you are guiding them to.
- Be conscious of the fonts, text sizes, colors, etc that you use. More font, color, etc information available here.
- Be careful about the size of any images and/or files that you use in your web. Not everyone has a fast connection and even those that do get frustrated with slow browsing.
- Consider breaking up your pages in to logical components and using multiple pages instead of one really long page. Of course also be aware of the downside of having too many pages for your users to navigate. (it’s a balancing act)
