Draft Pages and HTML Page Revisions
To assist web editors with creating new versions and recovering old versions of their pages the following options are available at the bottom of COCC's Edit Page.

With these options users can decide if they would lke to save their changes to their live page or as their draft page. And, if a change is made and doesn't work out as intended a previous version of their page can be loaded and then saved as the live page.
Using the options
- Send an update reminder...
NOTE: Information about the "Remind me to update this page..." feature is available on this page.
- Save as Live Page
In most cases users will use this option to save any changes immediately to their live web page. However, if they are then unhappy with their changes they can reedit the page and reload the previously saved version.
- Save as Draft
This option should be used when you are making change that you are unsure about, want someone else to review or if you would like to save your work so you can continue editing later.
When saving a draft page the browser will automatically display the draft version of the page so the editor can immediately see their draft changes.
- Loading a saved draft or older version of your page.
Whenever you first open the edit view of your page you will be editing the live version. In order to load your saved draft or an older version of your page you will need to select the version from the "Saved Draft & Page Revisions" drop-down and click the Load button. Doing so will immediately load the selected version of the page in to the Editor so that you may continue editing and then decide if you would like to save the page as your Live or Draft page.
- Previewing and sharing a saved draft page.
When you save a page as a draft the draft changes will not be visible to normal web visitors.
However, you can share a special version of your page address with anyone that you would like to have review your draft version before deciding to save it as your live page.
The page address to use for viewing a draft is the same as your normal live page with a single parameter "draft" added.
For example, if your page's address is:
http://programs.cocc.edu/web+design/default.aspx
Then the page address to use to view your draft would be:
http://programs.cocc.edu/web+design/default.aspx?draft=1
In case helpful, this draft page address is displayed for you under the draft help notes if you click the "Show help information for drafts" link.
When viewing a draft page while logged in with editing rights, the "Edit Page" link will change to "Edit Draft Page" and when clicked the page editor will automatically load the draft version rather than the live version.
Page Revision History
Since our server can't keep every version of all pages forever, the following describes how page revisions are saved.
- Your currently Live and most recent Draft pages will be kept "forever".
- Other saved revisions of your page will only be kept for 30 days with a maximum of 10 versions being available from the Saved Draft & Page Revisions drop-down.
