When adding text, images, etc to your web pages you have a number of options for where the information will be displayed.
Your page layout options include
- Simply typing your text and using the ENTER key as needed to add line breaks in your content.
- Inserting images inline with your text or aligned as desired on the page. (click for more image layout options)
- Organize your page in to multiple columns, rows, etc using tables.
- And of course you can use some or all of these at the same time.
Creating multiple columns and rows in your content
The third option regarding the use of tables is what we will focus on here. Since tables can sometimes be complicated to format as needed and the desired results often fall in to a few catagories, we have added a special Insert Template button to the web page editor's toolbar ( ).
Using this Insert Template button will help you to quickly set up common page layouts to organize your web page. If you need a more custom layout you can start with these templates and then customize them or start from scratch with a table of your own. (click here for more about creating tables)
When inserting a table you should place your focus on a blank line in the content area of your page so that the table does not replace any of your existing text. Once the table is inserted you can enter text in to the appropriate table cells or move existing content in to the cells that were created.
NOTE: You do not need a table if you simply want to position an image to one side and your text along side the image. For instructions on positioning images, click here.
Special Purpose Page Layout Templates
In addition to the multiple column layout tables discussed above, some additional special purpose tables have also been added to this drop-down box. Details about these special purpose options are available here.
