Navigation (roll-over) Menus

Roll-over menus refers to the list of menu options displayed at the left hand side of each web page which have the ability to have a pop-up menu displayed when a user holds their mouse pointer over the menu item.

Web pages are included on these roll-over menus if the are both enabled for viewing and configured to be displayed on the navigation menus. In order to be displayed a web page's parent page must also be configured to appear on the navigation menus.

This navigation option is available on the web form displayed when clicking the "Edit Page Settings" option. Once this form is displayed more instructions are visible by the navigation option.

Changing Menu Item Order

The order in which your pages appear on the roll-over menus is determined by the order in which the pages are created unless you re-sort them using the Edit Sections/Pages option appearing on the Admin roll-over menu. (This menu is only visible while logged in with administrative rights.)

An example image showing how your pages can be sorted on the Edit Sections/Pages list is available here.

Child Page Menu Links

Child page links can appear below the content area on parent type web pages. When these child page links are displayed, each child page that is configured to display on the navigation menus will have a link listed. More information about configuring child page links is available here.

Page Content Links

To provide customized navigation options web administrators can always add their own page references within their page content however appropriate. Examples of this include simple things like the following hyperlink which is being included here in the content to assist users of this page by taking them directly to a web page with more relevant information. Web Searching

Although this navigation option may not seem the same as the above options, it is always important to remember that users of the COCC web can always search the COCC web for the desired content. This searching is provided by the search box included at the top right corner of each page as well as via many of the most popular web search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc.

Although you can turn off the search indexing for your web page by using the indexing option, search engines generally only index the COCC web site approximately every 30 days, so content changes do not take affect immediately.
