Configuring Child Page Links

The below information explains how to configure the Child Page (Section) Menu Links that appear at the bottom of a parent section (web page). These options also similarly apply to other page types such as the Photo Gallery, however the focus here surrounds the parent page type.

Hiding the Child Page Links

Example portion of a web page showing where the child links in question are displayed. If the content of your page includes all the information that you want displayed about subsections of your web you will likely want to hide the generated child page links. These are the links that are added to the bottom of a parent page as a bulletted list. (see example at right)

To cause these child menu links to NOT appear on your web page set the "Child Items To Show Per Page" setting for your parent section to 0.

This setting appears as shown below in the Advanced section of the "Edit Page Settings" form.

Controlling How Many Links Are Displayed

You can also change the maximum number of these child links that will be displayed at any given time by changing using a number greater than 0. When this is done, if your parent page has more children to include in this list than the number you specified, the links will be split in to multiple sets allowing the user to page through the child page links as desired.

Child page links technically also refers to the section content pages such as those listed on an event, book, or photo gallery section. As a result manipulating this Child Items setting will also control how many events, photos, etc appear on a single page in these types of sections.

Child Page Link Order

The order in which these links appear is controlled by the sort order of the sections themselves. For more information about sorting review the instructions here. Please note that the child links on a parent page are created left-to-right and then top-to-bottom so their order may appear a bit different than they do on a roll-over menu.
