Copying Course Materials
Once you have uploaded course materials into a Blackboard course, you can copy those course materials into any other Blackboard course in which you are an instructor. This means you can:
- Copy course materials from an old Blackboard course you taught in the past into a new Blackboard course you are teaching this term.
- Save time when you are teaching multiple sections of the same course by uploading your content to only one Blackboard course and then copying that course's content to the other sections' Blackboard courses.
You must be an instructor in both the Blackboard course you are trying to copy from and the Blackboard course you are trying to copy into. In other words, you cannot copy another instructor's Blackboard course content into one of your Blackboard courses, nor can you copy your Blackboard course content into another instructor's Blackboard course, unless that instructor first makes you an instructor in his or her course.

Copy Course Materials
To copy materials from one Blackboard course you are teaching into another Blackboard course in which you are an instructor:
- Login to Blackboard.
- Under My Courses, first, click on the name of the course that contains the course materials you would like to copy into another course.
- Click the Control Panel link.
- ESSENTIAL: Double-check that this is the correct course, i.e., it is the course that contains the source documents you want to copy into another Blackboard course. If you are in the wrong course, click on the My COCC tab and return to step two.
- Under Course Options, click the Course Copy link.
- Click the Copy Course Materials into an Existing Course link.
- To the right of the Destination Course ID box, click the "Browse" button. This opens a pop-up window.
- In the Search by: box, enter your nine digit campus ID.
- Click the instructor button.
- Click the Search button.
- Locate the new course INTO which you would like to copy your course material, then click the Select button to select that course. [You may need to scroll to the right to see it.]
- Place a checkmark next to the course materials you would like to copy.
- NOTE: DO NOT COPY ENROLLMENTS. Doing so will enroll the students from the course you are copying from into the course you are copying into.
- Click the Submit button.
- Blackboard will process your request and will email you when the course copy is complete, usually within an hour.
More Information
Q: I can't see the course I'd like to copy from in My Courses. What should I do?
A: First, make sure you are listed as the instructor of the course you want to copy from. Then, to see all the Blackboard courses on the system, click on the My Courses tab at the top of any Blackboard page.
Q: I need to copy course materials from a fellow instructor's course and that instructor is out of the country. Can Barbara Klett give me access to that instructor's course?
A: No. Giving you access to another instructor's course without that instructor's express, written permission is not done. Only the course's instructor has permission to access that course's materials. Unless that instructor manually makes you an instructor in his or her Blackboard course, you will not be able to access that instructor's Blackboard course content.
